Software or settings preventing Passport Points

Updated over a week ago

Passport Points can only be activated if we can identify where you’re shopping. Sometimes, cookies, ad blockers, and content blockers can interfere with this process and prevent Passport Points from being activated.

Cookies

For Passport Points to work, your security or protection software must allow cookies from both Passport.Travel and the stores where you shop. Cookies help us recognize your shopping activity so you can earn Passport Points.

Here are some tips to ensure Passport Points are activated:

  • Firewall software (e.g., ZoneAlarm or Norton Internet Security): Turn off the ad-blocking feature when shopping with Passport.Travel.

  • Other browser extensions (e.g., shopping rewards or coupon sites): Disable these extensions while shopping with Passport.Travel, as they may redirect your shopping trip and prevent Passport Points from being tracked.

  • Private or incognito mode: Avoid using this setting, as it blocks Passport.Travel from communicating with stores and activating Passport Points.

  • VPN users: Disable your VPN while shopping, as Passport.Travel cannot guarantee Passport Points will be activated when a VPN is in use.

  • Network-level traffic blocking (e.g., Bitdefender or Pi-hole): Adjust your software settings to create an exception for Passport.Travel.

Ad blocking software

Ad blockers prevent us from identifying where you’re shopping, which means we can’t track your eligible orders for Passport Points.

  • For AdBlock: If Passport Points Alert detects this ad blocker, you’ll see a prompt to Enable Passport Points. This will add Passport Points Alert to a list that allows you to shop and activate Passport Points. If you still see alerts after adding the filter, disable your ad blocker during your shopping trip and re-enable it afterward.

  • For AdBlock Plus, uBlock Origin, and other ad blockers: To ensure Passport Points are tracked, disable your ad blocker while shopping and re-enable it once you’re done.

Content blockers on mobile

Content blockers on mobile devices can prevent Passport Points Alert from identifying your shopping activity, making it impossible to activate Passport Points.

To ensure Passport Points are activated:

  • Use the Passport Points Alert browser extension or disable your content blockers while shopping.

  • To disable content blockers on iOS devices:

    1. Go to Settings and select Safari.

    2. Select Content Blockers.

    3. Turn off all content blockers.

    4. Restart your shopping trip from Passport Points Alert to activate Passport Points.

Once you’re done shopping, you can re-enable your content blocker by following the same steps.
