How to reset the browser extension to fix login issues

Fixing login problems by resetting the extension

Updated over 5 months ago

If your browser extension won’t log in, a simple refresh (turning it off and on) can often resolve the problem. Here’s how to do it:

Google Chrome / Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based)

  1. Open Extensions Menu

    • Click the puzzle piece (🧩) icon (Extensions) in the top-right toolbar.

    • Select "Manage extensions" (or go to: chrome://extensions/ / edge://extensions/).

  2. Turn Off the Extension

    • Find the extension causing issues.

    • Toggle the switch to "Off" (it will turn gray).

  3. Turn It Back On

    • Wait 5–10 seconds, then toggle the switch back "On" (blue).

  4. Reload the Page

    • Refresh the webpage where you’re trying to log in.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Add-ons Manager

    • Click the three-line menu (☰) → "Add-ons and Themes" (or press Ctrl+Shift+A).

  2. Disable the Extension

    • Go to the "Extensions" tab.

    • Click the toggle switch next to the extension to turn it off.

  3. Re-enable It

    • Wait a few seconds, then toggle it back on.

  4. Restart Firefox (if needed)

Safari (Mac)

  1. Open Safari Preferences

    • Click "Safari" → "Settings" (or "Preferences") → "Extensions".

  2. Disable the Extension

    • Uncheck the box next to the extension’s name.

  3. Re-enable It

    • Wait a moment, then re-check the box.

  4. Reload the Website

Still Not Working? Try These Next Steps:

  • Clear Cache & Cookies (Settings → Privacy)

  • Restart Your Browser

  • Reinstall the Extension (Remove → Re-add from store)
